Tom was a partner of KPMG for ten years, specialising in turnaround management and corporate recovery. He built an outstanding reputation in the Waikato / Bay of Plenty region, testimony to his performance is that he developed the largest client portfolio in the practice. From 1997, Tom spent six years as CEO of Matrix Corporation and GM Business Development of Guardian Healthcare (now BUPA). Under Tom’s stewardship, the Matrix/Guardian businesses grew significantly, in terms of both size and profitability.
From 2002 until 2007, Tom was founder and Managing Director of Radius Health Group. Radius comprised medical centres, pharmacies rest homes and retirement villages, and home security services throughout New Zealand. In the five years led by Tom, Radius grew from start-up to be New Zealand’s largest business in the market segments in which it operated, with turnover in excess of $200 million and 2,500 staff.
More recently, Tom has led a major post-harvest operator in the kiwifruit industry through a business turnaround phase then into a merger with another company to form the largest operator in that industry. In addition, he has just completed a recapitalisation and partial turnaround of a business operating in the interior joinery and construction sector in New Zealand and Australia.
Tom presently serves as a director of several companies, and has held directorships of both privately-held and publicly-listed companies.
